Recreational Counselor
Industry: Elder Care
My job was to help organize activities for the elderly in order to provide adequate interaction and recreation.
Key Responsibilities Included:
Helped schedule activities through local recreational facilities offsite, and in recreational rooms on location.
-  Engaged participants by providing easy access, transportation arrangements, and opportune times to attend.
-  Kept close watch for safety reasons and protection purposes, and ensured the well-being of all participants.

My job was to counsel clients who participated in a scattered-site, psychiatric, apartment rehabilitation program.

Key Responsibilities Included:

-  Visited clients on a daily basis to teach them independent living skills and to help them integrate into society.

-  Contacted counselors, social workers, day-treatment and job coaches to coordinate and arrange for services.

-  Wrote clear and concise casenotes, ensured the accuracy of information, and performed medication management.

-  Participated in (and planned) recreational events and activities, and ensured health and safety needs were met.

Industry: Developmental Disabilities

My job was to counsel clients with developmental disabilities who lived together in a residential facility.
Key Responsibilities Included:
-  Worked with participants daily to teach independent living skills and to help them integrate into the community.

-  Taught basic living skills such as: cooking, cleaning, cleanliness, traveling, scheduling, and money management.

-  Planned entertainment, participated in events, and created a stimulating environment for learning and well being.

Industry: Physical Disabilities

My job was to assist persons with physical disabilities in obtaining vocational services and coached employment.

Key Responsibilities Included:

-  Enrolled clients in the Work Experience Internship Program and supervised interns who assisted in the process.

-  Scheduled business advisory committee meetings, wrote the minutes, and sent them to agency contacts.

-  Checked references, provided fact-checking, and sent completed applications on to the appropriate department.

-  Scheduled appointments, tracked billing, requested authorizations, input data, and processed payments.
